Christmas Blessings to All!

At this time of year, with the all the hustle and bustle and rushing about, may we be reminded to focus on the real reason for Christmas. It is a time to remember that God, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, loves us so much that He sent his only begotten son in the form of an infant, Jesus Christ, down to Earth to dwell among us and give us hope for salvation from our sins. He knew that this tiny babe would grow into a man who would suffer on a cross. He would shed his very blood and die upon that very cross. God's son Jesus loved the people of the world enough to die for those undeserving sinners. He paid the price to cover sin long ago and, yes, even for our sins today and for all generations to come.

I believe that Jesus Christ is the light, the truth and the only way to life everlasting with God the Father in  Paradise.  It is as simple as that. The words are just as relevant today as when they were first written in Luke 2: 1-20. You can find the story here.

How to Make and Use a Stencil Using Cricut Expression

My family and many of my friends know how much I adore French inspired creations and design. The flourish of the curly-cues and curves are so appealing. An image of the Eiffel Tower in any form sets my imagination into high gear. It will come as no surprise to people who know me well that when I feel the desire to get creative, it is often with a French flair. So, when pondering what to make for Joanne, a dear friend of mine, I designed the stenciled pillow covers shown in this post.  I constructed the pillow cover/shams myself from a twin sized white cotton sheet and embellished the opening edges with black grosgrain ribbon before sewing the side seam together. If you prefer not to sew your own, you can purchase a pair and begin from there. Costumes From' "Fashionable Romance Wedding Gowns in Film Exhibition" at Biltmore House

Late last month I shared with readers about a day we spent at Biltmore House and Gardens in Asheville, North Carolina. That post was centered around the beautiful conservatory and gardens at the estate. We had a really great time with our daughter, her husband, our three granddaughters and our dear friends, Larry and Harriette. If you missed that post, you might want to check it out  here . In this post, I am writing about the spectacular Fashionable Romance Wedding Gowns in Film exhibition, which is a collection of award-winning costumes from a number of great movies. The collection is presented by the Belk Company. In addition to the fabulous movie costumes, a number of hierlooms from the Vanderbilt/Cecil family are displayed throughout Biltmore House and at Antler Hill Village & Winery, another of the Biltmore properties included in the price of admission to the Biltmore House & Gardens.
