Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort's Kidani Village Animals on Savannah

Image
I have mentioned on my blog before on more than a few occasions that we adore planning trips that involve our family and extended family. This past month, we were able to get together and take one of those cherished trips to Walt Disney World. There were fourteen of us this time and we were all able to stay at Disney's Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Kidani Village is one of Disney Vacation Club's member resorts and is one of our favorite resorts in which to stay. Many of you have heard of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom Resort and Kidani Village is just a very short distance away from the park. The resort is the same theme as the Animal Kingdom Park and has a very authentic African vibe. Most of the cast members (otherwise known as staff) are of very authentic African origins. Most speak at least some English and they are all very friendly and helpful and lend so much authenticity to any stay there. This makes way for an "out of...

Walt Disney World

Image
If you read my blog you will know how important family is to my husband and I. Family, to us, includes not just those family members who were born into the family but those who were acquired by love. Our son-in-law, Jason, posted a photograph, taken by one of the Walt Disney World photographers, to his Facebook account this morning. It is one of my favorite and my husband and I have the same photograph on display in our home. It was taken on July 4, 2010 at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. I was inspired to post about the photo and why it is so special to our family. It brings back many sweet memories of occasions when we all got together as family unit. Also, the trip on which it was taken was the last trip when Jason's grandmother Mable (Granny to all of us) joined us on a combined family vacation. Granny is no longer able to travel. Our other son-in-law, Jimmy, had not yet been diagnosed with kidney cancer. Jimmy was his fun-loving, healthy and exuberantly happy sel...

Magazine Obsessions

Image
My mother enjoyed reading and read to me quite often. My father could not get enough of the printed word in newspapers, books and magazines. We might not have been wealthy, but by the time I (the last of the children) came along my father always made certain that we had a large collection of books and many magazines around our house. The two of us, my father and I, would sit together and peruse those beautiful, glossy, large pages of "Look" and "Life" magazines. Daddy would point out things to me and we would sometimes have  conversations about what was on the pages. Sundays, after church, were some of my favorite times because I would snuggle up next to my father on the couch as we read the Savannah Morning News. He would always read the comic strips to me (they were called "funny papers" back then)! There was always a big colorful section of funny papers. He and I would laugh together as he ran his fingers along  the words on each comic strip, re...

A Piece of Paradise at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort

Image
If you like a tropical landscape and atmosphere, you will think you have fallen into Paradise when you enter Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, which is included in the Moderate class of Disney's resorts. It is, in fact, anything but moderate in its appeal. The resort's theme is that of romantic Spanish-Colonial Mexico. Taking full advantage of the Florida sunshine, the entirety of its sprawling grounds is chock full of just about every type of palm tree imaginable. Exotic tropical plants and shrubbery abound. Colors of buildings, inside and outside, range from sand to coral and soft blues to turquoise. Pops of rust and brown are interspersed for accent. The ultimate effect is soothing and relaxing. A supremely pleasant experience! In celebration of our wedding anniversary, we just returned from a second stay at this extraordinarily beautiful place. We visited the resort several years ago when our youngest daughter, her husband and two daughters, accomp...

A Train Trip Through A Miniature Bavarian Countryside at EPCOT's World Showcase

Image
This is a post which I have intended to write for months. My time has been very limited as of late and so this was put on the back burner. Let me begin by saying that I love things created in miniature or on a scale much smaller than real life. You know, like tiny houses and buildings, landscape scenes that look as if you are viewing the real scene from a great distance. These often include people going about their daily routines, animals and even railways with functioning tracks. When I posted about Disney's Yacht Club at Christmas, I included pictures of the miniature railway and ski village on display in the lobby. If you missed that post, "Snow at the Yacht Club," or would like to revisit it you can go to this link:   http://mimimine.blogspot.com/2013/12/snow-at-yacht-club.html . This picture is from that post. Isn't it a fabulous display of miniatures? Miniature Railway at Disney's Yacht Club at Christmas Today's post is about another min...
