A couple of posts ago, I introduced readers to my best buddy, Harriette. Well, one of the things the two of us enjoy doing together is hitting some of the local thrift stores on any given day. A couple of days ago was one of those days. On this day, we went first to one of the local Salvation Army Thrift shops. I was combing the store with a fine tooth comb, so as not to miss anything with potential when I spied a set of four pretty little bowls with strawberries on them. Knowing that Harriette had been searching for some things in the past with strawberries on them, I called her over.  I commented on how pretty they were and how it was too bad she was no longer looking for "strawberries." She agreed what a shame it was and I set them back down on the shelf and proceeded to look for more treasures. Remember the rule for thrift store shopping--"If you snooze, you lose." Dear friends, you have reached the right place. It is I and this is, in fact, Mimi Mine blog. Some of my friends and family know me to be  somewhat impulsive and, I am afraid, also a little compulsive . Honestly, I cannot seem to leave things alone sometimes. Just when you think I'm behaving, I go and change things around. Well, this isn't the first time and, in case you are wondering, it might not be the last and, yes, I have changed the look of my blog. It started with just one little step into the water and before I could stop I was walking out a little farther and suddenly, I was swept away into the tides of change. That about sizes it up, it really does.  Believe it or not, there is some method behind all this sudden madness.  It was as if I was looking at someone else's blog every time I signed on. The content was mine, if you get my drift, but the appearance was not.  Granted, the previous look of this blog was colorful and gay and I love bright and cheerful...

Over the many years we've known each other, my dear friend, Harriette, and I have shared many ideas and projects. We have also shared a great deal of joy and, yes, sorrow, most recently the loss of my brother this past October and of her father and mother within the past six months. Our prayers for each other have helped sustain us and our families through some very difficult times. We are seldom without a project, sometimes several, going on. Creating has been a source of therapy and healing for both of us. I am updating this post today 3/25/2013 about the pie my mother-in-law used to make  to link up to   Jessica at  http://www.ahumblecreation.com/  for her "A New Creation" Link Party. My husband, Glenn, celebrated a birthday last week. He received a very special surprise from his sweet sister, Sharon, who brought by an absolutely gorgeous and delicious Chocolate Meringue Pie.  The story behind this pie goes back some forty or fifty years to the days when their mother was still living and Glenn was a young teenager. She passed away when only in her early fifties. She was a special lady and a wonderful cook, as was my husband's father. I was truly blessed to have known both of them to have shared many good times in their lovely home. Meals with them were always such warm and wonderful gatherings, where good food was abundant. Great meals with them were not limited to holidays and there was always some fabulous dessert at the end of a meal made by Mama...

My Dear Fellow Blogger Family Thanks so much for all your well wishes. I have not posted for a while and  having been inspired by so many of you, I decided to share with you  how I am celebrating my little touch of Irish heritage.  From what I know of my family history, we descend from Irish, French and American Cherokee Indian ancestry. I hope you will enjoy! This pretty little musical doll's name is Kelly. She holds a shamrock in her hand for Saint Patrick's Day wishes. She is so excited and wants to share the festivities with you! Her hair is the same color as my sweet grand-daughter, Rachel.  Debbie over at  DebbieDabbles  reminded me, while enjoying what she has done to celebrate, that Kelly had been put away much too long. I saw her gorgeous doll and musical teddy bear in her recent post and a little bell went off in my head. Dear Fellow Bloggers. You may have noticed I've been MIA for a while. I'm sending out a quick post to say I am presently trying to "give birth" to twin kidney stones(one for each kidney). I started having a lot of discomfort in my side back area a week or so ago and tried to ignore it, in hopes it would just go away. Friday afternoon, it became excruciating that my husband, my sweet daughters and I spent Friday night and into Saturday morning at the ER of Georgia Regents(more like a visit to a zoo on the weekend). Between the auto accident victims, domestic dispute casualties, flu patients--you get the idea, the doctors ran the exams and tests and determined the aforementioned condition. We were there for many hours. Believe me, if I had not been in pure agony, I would have given up and gone home. I'm not knocking the ER or anything, that is just the nature of a visit to any ER, I suppose. Needless to say, I am still in a lot of pain but just wanted to take a minu...

I'm updating this post, which I first wrote on February 5, 2013. I have created some pretty things to send to five bloggers who wish to participate in Pay It Forward. So far, I have had only two bloggers sign up and I am getting ready to send out their gifts very soon. I will be posting about them, once I know they've received their gift. It would make me very happy to be able to send out three more gifts, because it gives me great joy to give pretty hand-made things to other people.
